RFID - Radio Frequency IDentification
By
Northern Computers
Radio Frequency IDentification, RFID, is a reliable way to control, detect and track different objects. A tag, or transponder, affixed to the object identifies it as soon as it is in the field of a reader. RFID tags can be programmable or read only, and can be with or without batteries.
RFID does not require line-of-sight between the transponder and the reader, and therefore overcome the limitations of other automatic identification solutions, such as bar-code and infrared systems. RFID works effectively in dirty environments and eliminates the need to scan manually, like with magnetic cards and bar codes. Read-only transponders contain a unique, factory-programmed ID code. Read-write transponders store additional bits of code that can be programmed by the user to revise and update data. Data collected from either type of transponder can be sent directly to a host computer through standard interfaces, or stored in a reader until uploaded to a computer for data processing.
AutoKey System
This stand-alone system provides the convenience of a "clicker" together with the security of a card. The uniquely encoded transmitters are available in one- and two-button versions and in visor- and keychain-size. Transmitters are added and deleted (either individually or in groups) using the keypad inside the system housing. Access may be restricted by time zone. A 365-day clock allows automatic activation of the system's three relays. Each event may be printed in real-time.
ClikCards
ClikCard transmitters and receivers must be used in conjunction with Infinity or PROcard systems. They do not operate on a stand-alone basis. Adding and deleting of transmitters is done through the "host" system. The uniquely encoded transmitters are available in one- and two-button versions and in visor- and keychain-size. Also available are 26-bit format versions for connection to other card access systems.
